How to compress a video on iPhone
The Photos app has no compress button, so a big iPhone video stays big. SendReady shrinks it on your phone to the size you need — for Discord, email, chat apps or just to free up space — without uploading it anywhere.
Steps
- Open SendReady and tap Compress a video.
- Choose the video from Photos.
- Pick Max size and choose a target (10 MB, 25 MB, 50 MB…) — or pick a Preset like Balanced or High.
- Optional: trim the clip or turn on Remove audio for an even smaller file.
- Tap Compress, then Share it or Save to Photos.
Max size or preset?
Use Max size when an app or website has a limit — SendReady tries the best quality first and steps down until the file fits. Use a preset when you just want a smaller file: High keeps the most detail, Balanced is a good everyday choice.
Why are iPhone videos so big?
iPhones record in high resolution and frame rate by default, so a one-minute 4K clip can be several hundred megabytes. Compressing to 1080p or 720p cuts that dramatically with little visible difference on a phone screen.
Record smaller videos in the future
In Settings › Camera › Record Video you can choose a lower resolution, and Settings › Camera › Formats › High Efficiency saves new videos in a more compact format. That only affects new recordings — SendReady handles the ones you already have.
Tips
- Shorter clips fit tight limits with better quality — trim first.
- Location and personal metadata are removed by default before you share.
- SendReady never adds a watermark.
