How to remove metadata from photos on iPhone
Every iPhone photo can carry metadata: the exact location it was taken, the time, and camera details. SendReady removes it — and location from videos too — before the file leaves your phone.
Steps
- For photos: open SendReady, tap Strip Metadata and choose the photos.
- Tap Strip metadata, then Share clean photos.
- For videos: tap Compress a video, choose the video and keep Remove location & metadata on (it is by default).
- Compress, then Share the cleaned video.
What metadata is in an iPhone photo?
Photos store EXIF data: GPS coordinates, the date and time, the camera and lens, and settings like exposure. Anyone who receives the original file can read it.
The built-in way, and its limits
When sharing from Photos you can tap Options and turn off Location for that share. It's easy to forget, it doesn't remove the other EXIF data, and it doesn't help when you upload through a website. SendReady creates clean copies you can use anywhere.
Tips
- Selling something online or posting publicly? Strip metadata first so strangers can't see where you live.
- The Share Sheet version strips location too, so you can clean a photo without opening the app.
